The opposition parties had vehemently demanded both the presidency and the broadcast of the video. The fact that the video is quoted in the media, but the U Committee gropes in the dark, is an “unacceptable situation,” said committee chairman, National Council chairman Wolfgang Sobotka (VP) . Neos boss Beate Meinl-Reisinger spoke of a “plantation”.
Who delivers?
The question remained of who is delivering the video. If the Justice Ministry doesn’t have it, the Interior Ministry has to hand over, after all, the video was transcribed and processed there, according to Sobotka. If the ministry has a different legal opinion (which is the case), the U-Committee would have to establish a grace period and finally go to the Constitutional Court. He alone has no legal basis.
The SPÖ, FPÖ and Neos see it differently: they want “more vehement behavior and more initiative” from the president.
