The head of the Austrian national soccer team, Franco Foda, praised his players for the implementation of preventive measures on Thursday night before the first international match after the coronavirus outbreak. “The team faced this extraordinary situation in a very professional way,” said the German at his last press conference before the start of the Nations League against Norway in Oslo.
The measures are particularly strict in Norway. Upon arrival at the hotel, nose and throat samples were taken from all players and coaches. At the Ullevaal Stadium, the temperature measurements were made before the last training session. To do this, all players inside the stadium had to have their most recent negative test certificate and a passport with them.
The 23 players of the ÖFB team completed the unit in the arena in which the Norwegians have not lost a game for exactly four years (0: 3 against Germany). They were observed by fewer cameras than usual. With the exception of one photographer, representatives of the Austrian media did not travel to Oslo due to strict entry and quarantine regulations in Norway.
