These images are difficult to take. In Treffling (Urfahr-Umgebung district), neighbors discovered a seriously injured cat on the side of the road on Wednesday night. Striking: The gray tabby animal’s tail was flayed and placed next to it. As the seeker told the animal rescue service, the animal was still alive at the time.
The four-legged friend died shortly before the animal rights activists arrived. “The cat had a head injury. Someone could have knocked it unconscious with a heavy object,” said Willy Schnebel, president of animal rescue.
Emergency operation on the tomcat Balu
Just eight days ago, the skinned tail of the Balu cat shocked animal lovers in Linz-Kleinmünchen (we reported). In this case, the four-legged friend came home and was saved thanks to an emergency operation that included the amputation of his tail at the Satteldt veterinary clinic (Wels-Land district).
The pattern was the same as in the current Treffling case. According to the current state of knowledge, the tail fur should have been cut exactly. “The fur on the tail is completely intact. Apart from the head wound, the animal also shows no other injuries,” says Schnebel.
FP-Hein increases the reward
Like the first incident, this terrible case of animal cruelty was reported to the police. Deputy Mayor Markus Hein (FPÖ) is also dismayed. “If there were few skeptics last week, the assumption that it was an accident, the latest case, which happened in a very short time, suggests that a beast is playing its horrible game with animals,” Hein said in a broadcast. .
The FP politician has now even increased the reward he has offered to 1,500 euros for clues about the apprehension of the cruel animal.
Cat owners in and around Linz are probably now paying special attention to their four-legged friends.
