A state-of-the-art water plant was built in Kittsee in a record construction time of a year and a half, and was able to start operating successfully yesterday. This will ensure the supply of drinking water in the northern part of the Neusiedl am See district in sufficient quantity and of good quality for decades to come.

In the new water plant, water is brought together from three newly built deep well systems and the two well systems that have been in existence for decades. After filtering part of the water through membrane systems and the second part through boilers with sand and carbon filters, they are mixed and stored in a 1500 cubic meter drinking water tank. Then the water is fed into the supply system. The system capacity of the new Kittsee water plant is 60 liters / second.

A total of around 5.3 million was invested in the construction of the hydraulic works. The total useful area is approximately 680 square meters.

The water supply in the district improved even more

“The construction of the new modern Kittsee water plant will further improve security of supply in the Neusiedl am See district. This is an impressive continuation of the 60-year success story of the water pipes association ”, coincide Gerhard Zapfl, president of the North Burgenland water pipes association, and Vice President Josef Tschida.

“Here at Kittsee, we have built a state-of-the-art water plant in modern industrial architecture at a ‘show point’. It is equipped with an emergency power supply in the event of a “blackout” and an environmentally friendly photovoltaic system. I am proud that the new waterworks could be implemented in such a short time while still meeting the construction schedule and budget requirements despite the crown crisis. In particular, I would like to thank all the employees and companies involved, ”says technical director Helmut Herlicska, proud and grateful.
