After the bitter 7-1 away loss in the first round of the UNIQA ÖFB CUP against the near-Bundesliga club SK Austria Klagenfurt, the OÖ derby against FC Wels was already waiting for our team on Tuesday, September 1, 2020. Our coaching team had prepared our boys very well for this important game. Our next opponent is at the bottom of the table after two losses, we are currently eighth in the Regionalliga Mitte table. The aim was to get a victory at home, which unfortunately was not successful.

Ligaportal reports:
A wild derby: Stadl-Paura and FC Wels split the points 2: 2!
Today, Tuesday evening, ATSV Stadl-Paura and FC Wels met in the third round of the Regionalliga Mitte in one of the Upper Austria derbies. In the first half, both teams revealed some insecurities in the defensive ranks, but the break was scoreless. After the break, the two opponents exchanged blows with two goals from both sides, and Jovanovic scored a point with a dream goal for the fair city.
Stadl-Paura and Wels have chances, but both don’t score
Within seconds, the guests were 1-0 on the foot after a huge defensive error by Stadlinger, but instead of shooting from an excellent position, Alex Bauer put the ball in the middle, where only an ATSV kicker could. clear (2.). However, after this commotion, the hosts broke the game and created some good opportunities: first, after a counterattack, a shot from Numanovic was blocked in the last second, shortly after a long-distance shot from Ljubicic landed in the Gruber’s arms (7/11.). The Stadlingers exercised playful overweight, but couldn’t turn this into leadership. FC Wels limited their forward efforts mainly to counter attack, but also missed their chances. After ATSV fumbled the ball, Babler’s proteges came out in droves, Huskic sent Bajram down, but his attempt to beat ATSV goalkeeper Sarcevic failed (21st). However, the ATSV had a bit more dominance: the boisterous Ljubicic found his teammate Skrgic, whose shot Gruber unleashed, but a Wels defender maneuvered to the side (22nd). A little later, Traunviertel’s team was very close to the first goal again, Popa’s men combined very well in the Wels penalty area, but on three occasions Wels’s team put any part of the body between the ball and the goal (26). Until the break, the Traunviertel people had a little more play, but did not get the ball into the area. In the 37th minute, the spectators saw a real treat that deserved a goal: a technically worth seeing high shot from Edwin Skrgic did not lead to the desired goal and went over the area. Nothing else happened until halftime and it went 0-0 at halftime.
Jovanovic’s dream goal secures FC Wels a late point
Immediately after the restart, the home team came out of the booth stronger. A Stadling player was sent to the top from midfield, whose center at the right moment reached his teammate, but who put the ball just above the goal (46th). Almost ten minutes later, the Stadlingers were unable to assess their chances, as the guests took a 1-0 lead: Huskic’s free kick from a central position was unfortunately extended down the wall and plunged unsustainably for Sarcevic in the far corner. (57.). Just two minutes later, if there were a thousand percent chance, the people at the exhibition center should have closed the lid: Babler’s protégés broke through to the right. The center at five found a Wels forward who managed to throw the ball over the area at point-blank range (59º). However, Popa’s men were not intimidated by this deficit and deservedly struck back 20 minutes before the end: a long tee shot from Stadling’s goalkeeper was extended to Skrgic with a header. which ended up with him again through detours. The striker fired up the turbo, rounded off Wels’ keeper Gruber, and pushed for a well-deserved draw (67th). As a result, the Traunviertler Oberwasser and struck again less than five minutes later: after a dead ball, Stadl-Paura had an easy game in the opposing penalty area. In the end, Dino Medjedovic was able to push the leather over the goal line (72 °). A little later, Wels goalkeeper Gruber even prevented the 1: 3, shortly after a Stadling kicker wandered away and chased the game device past the goal (74/78). Since ATSV was unable to make the preliminary decision, Welser stayed in the game and suddenly got their own chances again. First it became circular An ATSV player maneuvered a free kick from the line, but shortly thereafter Alexander Jovanovic hit the corner with a magnificent Sunday shot from a good 25 meters to equalize 2-2 (81st). In the final phase, the ATSV pressed again, but Popa’s men should no longer triumph in the long-awaited three. In a more than entertaining match, the rivals ended with a 2-2 draw.
Game voice:
Rudolf Knoll, Stadl-Paura Press Officer:
” The first part was one of the missed opportunities. We and Wels both had a 100 percent chance. We made inexplicable mistakes in defense and it was a really bad game. He improved in the second half. We fell behind, but we were able to match. In the end, it was a knife edge game. The 2: 2 is fair in my opinion. ”
