Rainy Dragonfly Landing in the Museum Quarter

Dragonflies don’t actually fly in the rain. But it is enough for landings, at least for concrete and glass ones. And so on Tuesday morning, the director of the museum quarter, Christian Strasser, was finally able to present his latest gem, the “MQ Libelle”, to the media after several months of delay due to the crown, and not he let the rain, cold wind, and low clouds spoil his mood.

It was with obvious pleasure that the host introduced the new nearly 400 square meter event room on the roof of the Leopold Museum and the approximately 1,000 square meter terrace in front. Strasser is particularly proud that it will be available to all visitors for free from Friday.

No celibacy

Generally, these terraces would be “only for the privileged”, while in the MQ not only is the use of the elevator to the “most beautiful cultural terrace in the world” free, but there is also no pressure to consume. This last point was also highlighted by Neubauer District Leader Markus Reiter (Greens). For the residents of the seventh district, the Museum Quarter is not only a cultural space, but also a leisure space, which is why they feel especially satisfied with this space free of consumption as a contribution to the “democratization of the city”.
