The play-offs for entry to the UEFA Champions League will be drawn in Nyon today at 12:00. FC Red Bull Salzburg and SK Rapid Wien (if they advance against KAA Gent) discover their opponents there.
As the seeded team, Salzburg will face a winner of the third qualifying round on the road to the champions in the play-off. The nastiest possible opponents are probably Young Boys Bern, Red Star Belgrade and Maccabi Tel Aviv. Salzburg failed in the fight for entry to the premier class in 2009 because of the Israelis, and in 2018 because of the Serbs. The bulls could also face Ferencvaros Budapest, Molde FK (NOR), FC Midtjylland (DEN) , Karabach Agdam (AZE) or Dinamo Brest (BLR) go.
Rapid meets opponents in CL classification
Last year, Salzburg qualified directly for the group stage of the Champions League. Prior to that, the club had been eliminated eleven times in the premier class standings since joining Red Bull in 2005. In the event of an out in the third round or play-off, Rapid and Salzburg advance to the group stage of the Europa League. There the third league WAC is already a firm starter.
