Alexander Zverev has criticized the US Open organizers for their handling of French Benoit Paire’s corona positive test.

“The US Open did not do the best job of informing us. We found out about the whole situation with Benoit Paire through the media, like everyone else,” Zverev complained after his entry into the second round in New York at Eurosport.
Paire had tested positive for the corona virus the day before the tournament started and was withdrawn from competition. “I think that in such a situation, the players should be informed first,” Zverev said: “We have seen Benoit all the time. As players, we also have to know who was with whom.” He saw Paire himself “once in the elevator,” Zverev reported, “but other players were with him and they weren’t so happy to find out on Twitter.”
And Medvedev?
According to New York Times These players now had to sign an agreement to undergo daily crown tests. Also, they are no longer allowed to use the common areas in the “bubble” and are only allowed to stay in their rooms at the hotel. “They are not allowed to take the buses, they are not allowed to leave the room, they are only allowed to play the game,” said Zverev, who said last year’s finalist Daniil Medvedev (Russia) was one of the close contacts of Pairs and is now isolated.
“I know Medvedev is one of them,” said the Hamburg man: “I am very good friends with him, we have been together with the Russian troops at times. Medvedev, seeded in three, is scheduled to play his first-round match against Federico Delbonis in Tuesday’s night session.
