Taipei – A three-year-old girl in Taiwan had to spend 31 seconds of fear and terror on a kite flying through the air. Videos of the incident show an orange-red kite flying to the boy in the air at a kite festival in the city of Hsinchu. The girl was caught in the long tail of the great dragon.

For a good half minute, the girl was caught up in the air by strong gusts of wind, while the spectators in vain approached the girl and several people tried to return the kite to the ground. When the wind died down, the onlookers finally got hold of the girl.
The mayor of Hsinchu, Lin Chih-chien, said the boy had some scratches on his face and was terrified. “The city administration expresses its sincere apologies to the girl and the public,” the mayor wrote on Facebook.
Videos of the incident quickly spread to online networks. “Everyone who was there feared for her life,” commented one blogger about the images. A 34-year-old man who gave his name only with Lin told Apple Daily that he helped catch the girl. “At first I thought it was some kind of stunt show … but very soon I told myself that we shouldn’t leave the child.” (APA / AFP)
