Fatal accident while walking in Pinzgau

A fatal alpine accident occurred today in Kaprun (Pinzgau). According to the Salzburg police, a 69-year-old woman from Lower Austria tripped on a hiking trail in the direction of Schoppachhöhe just before her destination at an altitude of more than 2,000 meters and fell about 70 meters on steep meadows.
Any help came too late for Lower Austria, police said in a broadcast Monday afternoon. She was fatally injured in the accident. The late woman, who was part of a group of nine-person hikers, was rescued by a police helicopter.
