Clashes between supporters of Donald Trump and protesters from the Black Lives Matter movement have erupted in Portland. Shots rang out, a man died. Police is on the case.

yesA man was shot and killed in clashes between supporters of US President Donald Trump and protesters from the Black Lives Matter movement in Portland. In the center of the city, protesters clashed with a caravan of around 600 vehicles of Trump supporters Saturday night and clashes broke out. It was not initially clear if the fatal shot was related to this.

The dead are said to be Trump supporters. Police did not provide any details about his identity and did not initially comment on who should have shot. He is being investigated for a homicide, he said.

A freelance photographer for the AP news agency heard three shots and then saw police paramedics tending to the body of the victim, who appeared to be a white man.

“Police found a man with a gunshot wound to the chest”

The man wore a hat with a badge from Patriot Prayer, a right-wing group, the photographer reported. There have been repeated clashes between Patriot Prayer members and protesters in Portland.

“Portland police heard gunshots in the Southeast 3rd Avenue and Southwest Alder Street areas. They responded and found a man with a gunshot wound to the chest. The paramedics reacted and found that the victim was dead, ”police said.

In Portland, Oregon, there have been daily Black Lives Matter rallies and counter-demonstrations for nearly three months. US President Donald Trump sent federal police officers to Portland to contain the protests.

Since the murder of African-American George Floyd by a white police officer in May, the socially divided country has seen a wave of anti-racism protests that increasingly draw right-wing groups to the scene.
