The Parz castle premises have become one of his favorite galleries. “First, the people are nice, and second, each room has a different light,” says Christian Ludwig Attersee. That is why the artist, who grew up in Upper Austria, celebrated his 80th birthday there yesterday, with 150 guests and framed by his art.
Attersee himself hangs a total of 82 works from the last 40 years, some in chronological order, others in terms of content. Many of them were previously hidden from the public.
The rooms open like a seductively invented panopticon of the Attersee world, in which the erotic accents of the artist’s primer are not neglected, but questions of meaning are also raised and planetary devastation on the part of the people is discussed. Attersee also designed the mouth and nose protection from his work “Vergrünt Uns nicht Die Fisch”. All works are also for sale, from 3,950 to 140,000 euros. Daniela Gregori and Rainer Metzger’s updated Attersee biography is cheaper (40 euros). (P)
