As exclusively reported by the NÖN, coronavirus is rampant at the posterior distribution center in Hagenbrunn. By Friday morning, 66 of the approximately 300 employees had already tested positive for Covid-19. Swiss Post, which is considered a critical infrastructure for the system, has now requested support from the Armed Forces. As of Sunday night, 250 soldiers will assist at the logistics center. “Precise coordination talks are currently underway,” confirms post spokesman Markus Leitgeb.

Representatives of the Federal Army are getting an idea of the situation at the scene together with the medical officer. On Friday afternoon, soldiers from the ABC Defense Center in Korneuburg will move in and disinfect the entire building, reports Wolfgang Eckel, spokesman for the center. From Sunday night, the soldiers will work in the logistics center in shifts.

Soldiers, brought from all over Austria, are housed in a tent city. There is currently discussion on whether this will be built on the Hagenbrunn site or on the ABC Defense Center site.

Due to the exceptional situation, there may currently be delays of one or two days in the delivery of the package, says Leitgeb. The volume of the package is currently as high as generally only at Christmas, explains the Post spokesperson.
