Police tip: suspected scammers caught in Salzburg

A male accomplice managed to escape. As police reported on Wednesday, calls have increased in recent months and weeks in Salzburg by suspected criminal police officers.

Thefts in the area are false

These mainly contacted older people and pretended that a robbery had occurred in their vicinity. Several authors were arrested and a document with the name and address of the current victim was found in them.

Salzburg: fake policemen offer help

Since it cannot be ruled out that other fleeing perpetrators will carry out a robbery, the wrong investigators offered their help. The alleged officials introduced themselves politely as “Stefan Burg” and as chief of operations “Herr Heinzmann” and always spoke high correct German. As a result, they often contacted their victims several times a day, thereby gaining people’s trust.

After a time, older victims were asked to turn over valuables or all of their savings to the criminal police. The money is not safe in the bank, there is a possibility that the police or the prosecutor will keep it.

Pensioner cursed thousands of euros

More recently, in mid-April, a 91-year-old woman in Flachgau was lured for € 40,000 with the point. At that time, the pensioner was instructed to deposit the money under a neighbor’s trash can, where it was collected unseen. The criminal police believe that in this case the same perpetrators as in the now failed delivery were on the job, also because of the alias names used. At the same time, women and their accomplices could be responsible for a whole series of fraud cases in Upper Austria.

The two suspects, one 26-year-old and one 27-year-old from Upper Austria with a history of Turkish migration, were transferred to the Salzburg prison. The investigation is ongoing.
