Formula 1 is all about.
The trigger was the announced end of Sebastian Vettel at Ferrari. The latter now wants to join Mercedes, or end his career, and has rejected McLaren to form the team as the development team as the winning team.
So McLaren already appears to have secured a known replacement. As reported by “Motorsport-Total.com”, Daniel Ricciardo has already signed a contract.
At the end of the season, the 30-year-old switched from Renault to McLaren, where a cockpit was released as a replacement for Vettel to Ferrari when Carlos Sainz junior was fired.
Official confirmation is expected on Thursday. He is said to have informed his current team Wednesday morning that he would not renew his contract.
Ricciardo already had contact with McLaren in 2018, but decided to go with Renault at that time. After two years with the French, he now appears to be working with McLaren.
