A Maltese diplomat made a comparison between Angela Merkel and Adolf Hitler.

Malta’s ambassador to Finland resigned, according to media reports, because he compared German Chancellor Angela Merkel to Adolf Hitler. According to the media in Malta, Michael Zammit Tabona had said in a Facebook post that he had since been removed: “We arrested Hitler 75 years ago. Who will arrest Angela Merkel? She has fulfilled Hitler’s dream of controlling Europe.”

Maltese Foreign Minister Evarist Bartolo confirmed to the Times of Malta newspaper on Sunday that the ambassador had resigned and that an apology would be sent to Germany for the “callous” comment. The end of World War II was celebrated 75 years ago in Europe on Friday.
