“Profil” presentation: A former high-ranking trade unionist will apparently receive a lucrative salary from A1 Telekom Austria for the next 10 years, without having to work for a single day.

In its new edition, the “profil” news magazine reveals: The former vice president of the postal and telecommunications employees union will receive an estimated monthly fee of € 3,600 from A1 Telekom Austria until February 2030, without having to work for it!

Generous pay instead of a new job at the company.

In the fall 2019 staff representative elections, he lost a term. Instead of assigning him a job at the company, according to the “profil” report, Telekom board members Marcus Grausam and Sonja Wallner agreed to a generous deal with Silvia Bauer in December 2019.

Consequently, the former staff representative will remain employed at Telekom Austria until she retires in 2030, but will be released from service in the long term.

Part of the “profile” agreement is a voluntary severance payment in the amount of 24 monthly fees, which, at Bauer’s request, has been paid monthly in advance since early 2020 at the current fee.

For the Social Democratic Unionist (FSG) faction, Silvia Bauer sat on the central committee of A1 Telekom Austria for many years and was even a member of the supervisory board of the holding company of the Telekom Austria Group from 2012 to 2018.

No reaction from Telekom

The reason why Telekom’s board of directors granted such generous regulation went unanswered to “profile” the demand. According to a Telekom spokesperson, “no information is provided on” individual employee data for data protection reasons. ”

GPF: There are no privileges for trade unionists

The postal and telecommunications personnel union has registered for this. “The reported profile article shows once again clearly what dubious attacks on the GPF and employee representatives at A1-Telekom are starting again,” says Helmut Köstinger, federal president of the GPF, of the “profile” allegations.

Köstinger made it clear in a press release that “the Bauer case has nothing to do with either the GPF or the FSG. Ms. Bauer resigned from her position as vice president in 2015 and had no mandate at A1 Telekom since 2018” .

The letter also clarifies that neither the GPF nor the FSG participated in the agreement between A1-Telekom and Ms Bauer and therefore they do not know details about it either.

“The fact is that at the time of her agreement with A1-Telekom, Ms Bauer was not a GPF or FSG official, and thousands of similar individual agreements had been made between the employer A1-Telekom AG and employees in the last few years, “says Köstinger

The GPF President concluded: “It would be time to stop profil’s dubious attacks on GPF and FSG at GPF and emphasize the outstanding performance of the many GPF officials.”
