According to the Red Cross, the two cars collided during a turning maneuver at the intersection of a state and municipal highway. The vehicles caught fire.
There was a family of four in one car and an older person in the other. As a Red Cross spokesman said, an ambulance went through the scene of the accident and provided first aid along with passers-by. After the injuries were recovered from the vehicle wreckage, explosions occurred in both cars.
According to the AMTC, the 19-year-old driver was taken to Mistelbach State Hospital with minor injuries, while his 19-year-old sister, who was seriously injured, transported the “Christophorus 9” emergency helicopter to Vienna General Hospital. The “Martin 5” helicopter took father and mother to the Krems University Hospital, and the 62-year-old driver of the other car was taken to the Wiener Neustadt State Hospital with “Christophorus 3”. The Red Cross called everyone’s serious injuries “fatal.”
