681 new cases were reported in Austria in the last 24 hours. The number of people in hospital treatment (more than 23) increased further to 413, 77 of them in intensive care units (more than 2). 16,617 PCR tests have been reported since Tuesday.
777 people have died as a result of the corona virus since the outbreak of the pandemic, six more than on Tuesday. A total of 39,984 people have tested positive so far.

The number of tests reported by individual federal states in the epidemiological registry (EMS) in the last 24 hours was again very different. In Burgenland it was 999, in Salzburg 603, in Krnten 867 and in Vorarlberg 619. All other federal states sometimes carried out more than 1,000 tests. Tirol recorded 2,038 CRP tests, Upper Austria 1,953 and Styria 1,346. 3,140 tests were added from Lower Austria and most of them were carried out in the federal capital as before – 5,052 tests were added here compared to Tuesday. A total of 1,489,264 PCR tests have been carried out throughout Austria since the start of the pandemic.

The number of cases at a parcel service provider in the Linz-Land district increased slightly again on Tuesday (119 cases in total, 56 company employees, 63 follow-up cases).
The number of cases at a meat processing plant in the Ried district has risen to 60 cases among the employees examined. So far there are no follow-up cases in the area.

Four classes in Krnten closed on Wednesday
Classes at four schools in Cologne were blocked on Wednesday due to confirmed cases of Covid-19. A class at the Klagenfurt Bachmann Gymnasium, at the BORG Klagenfurt, at Seeboden Middle School and at Vlkendorf Middle School (Villach) was affected. The students and teachers who had taught the classes were quarantined, Krntner Landespressedienst reported.
At the Bachmann Gymnasium, 25 students and 15 teachers were affected. There, in addition to the confirmed case, two other students present symptoms. At the BORG, 30 students and five teachers now have to stay home. In Seeboden, 24 students were registered in isolation.
Additionally, students and teachers are separated from two classes each at HAK Villach and Villach Peraugymnasium, where coronavirus cases were confirmed last week. By Tuesday night, 154 test results were available, all negative. The isolation of those affected was maintained for the moment.
