On Sunday (12:00 pm) 2,860 people were infected with the coronavirus, 205 have been new since Saturday. 11,843 were in quarantine, 525 were treated in the hospital, 75 in the intensive care unit. With 14 new registrations, Upper Austria has 1,159 deaths.

The Linz City Administration reported that 23,554 people came to the 15 test streets at the Linz Design Center over six days. 84 people, 0.36 percent of all those examined, received a rapid positive antigen test and were separated by authorities as a precautionary measure. A total of 210 employees were on duty from December 21-26. More than a third of those tested at the Design Center have a primary residence other than Linz, according to a press release.

Most used the Linz city online registration, around 5,000 people could also be tested without prior registration, as the corresponding capabilities were available. Employees of the Linz City Administration, the Red Cross and the Samaritan Workers’ Association, as well as the Linz City security service, were responsible for conducting the acceptance tests and ensuring that everything ran smoothly. “This allowed more than 23,500 people to celebrate Christmas carefree with their families and friends,” emphasized Mayor Klaus Luger (SP) and City Director Ulrike Huemer. The positive test of 84 people successfully prevented possible cluster formations based on Christmas celebrations.
