Another 290,696 are working part-time.

There are currently 405,575 people without work registered in the Public Employment Service (AMS), some 74,000 more than a year ago, the Ministry of Labor announced on Tuesday. Compared to the previous week, the number of unemployed increased by 2,177 for the first time in a long time. 290,696 people have a short-time job, 5,790 less than a week ago.

Of the more than 400,000 job seekers, 60,307 are currently in training. According to the ministry, fall and winter will be “challenging”; so far, seasonal effects “have not yet occurred to the extent expected.”

Short-time work is more widespread in the field of manufacturing goods (industry and commerce) with around 130,000 people currently. In commerce, tourism, and the health professions, women are reported to perform more part-time jobs than men. The third phase of part-time work will begin on October 1.
