So far, 787 people have died from the consequences of the coronavirus and 33,154 have recovered. The number of active diseases dropped slightly to 8,273. There are currently 423 people in hospital treatment, 80 of them in intensive care units.
The new infections are distributed among the federal states of Austria as follows:
Burgenland: 20 Krnten: 16 Lower Austria: 119 Upper Austria: 95 Salzburg: 45 Styria: 32 Tyrol: 61 Vorarlberg: 29 Vienna: 297
Across Austria, 17,443 tests have been entered into the Resident Epidemiological Register (EMS) since Thursday morning (20,409 the day before). In the individual federal states, the figures were, as usual, very different. In Vienna there were 5,488, in Lower Austria 3,280, in Upper Austria 1,946 and in Krnten 502. In Styria there were 2,463 tests in the last 24 hours, in Tyrol 1,893 and in Vorarlberg 1,062. In Burgenland, 592 tests were added compared to Thursday, in Salzburg there were only 217. A total of 1,545,634 PCR tests have been carried out across Austria since the start of the pandemic.
Karl Nehammer (VP) had announced an increase in police curfew controls. As announced by the interior minister on Saturday, 2,239 restaurants and venues across Germany were screened on Saturday night. “Now everyone’s joint effort is needed to reduce the number of infections. The point is that we stand together and lead the determined fight against the corona virus shoulder to shoulder,” Nehammer said.
