On Monday, 5,593 new corona infections were recorded in Austria. 474 patients are in intensive care units.

Austrian health authorities have registered 5,593 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours. This is 340 less than what was reported on Sunday, but it was more than 1,500 higher than the value of Monday of the previous week. According to figures from the Ministry of the Interior and Health, 158,746 positive results have been recorded since the pandemic began.

Hospitals: everything but the clear

With 1,454 people who have died from or with the coronavirus and 94,627 people who have recovered from Covid-19, this means that there are currently 62,665 people actively infected. Therefore, everything except the go-ahead came from the hospitals. Currently, 3,229 people must be treated in hospitals for Covid-19, of which 474 were in intensive care units on Monday. It was 15 more than on Sunday.

Most cases again in Upper Austria

Most of the positive test results were again recorded in Upper Austria with 1,489. In second place was Lower Austria with 891 positive tests, followed by Vienna with 711 newly infected and Styria with 706. Tirol followed with 561, Salzburg with 458 and Vorarlberg with 426. 188 new infections were reported from Burgenland and 163 from Carinthia.
