In Vorarlberg, four people died from the corona virus on Friday for the second day in a row.
The number of new corona infections increased by 402 cases on Friday. With 404 recoveries at the same time, the number of actively infected people dropped slightly by six, but with 3,165 cases it was still above the 3,000 mark.
The number of corona patients in Vorarlberg hospitals has increased slightly. A total of 145 Covid 19 patients had to be treated there, four more than the previous day. The number of Covid-19 patients who died rose to 49 on Friday.
Of the 145 hospitalized, 28 (plus one compared to Thursday) were in the intensive care unit on Friday.
Situation in the communities
In eight other municipalities of Vorarlberg – Dornbirn (463), Lustenau (337), Bregenz (218), Feldkirch (214) and Hohenems (134), Hard (133), Bludenz (120) and Lauterach (108) – there were (far ) more than 100 active cases. In Frastanz (88), Götzis (81) and Wolfurt (84) the mark of the 80s was exceeded. More than 50 infected persons were also reported from Rankweil with 78 and from Höchst with 57. This means that around two thirds of all active coronavirus infections in Vorarlberg were distributed among these 13 municipalities. Only nine of the 96 communities in Vorarlberg were free of the corona virus.
Highest incidence in 7 days
According to the crown board of the Agency for Health and Food Safety (AGES), Vorarlberg also had the worst value of all Austrian federal states with the incidence of seven days per 100,000 inhabitants on Friday. With 609.1 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the last seven days, Vorarlberg was ahead of Upper Austria (580.0) and Tyrol (554.1).
The Austrian average was 422.2.
According to AGES data, the seven-day incidence is currently over 450 in all districts of Vorarlberg. At 823, the Dornbirn district currently has the seventh highest value of all Austrian districts.
Situation in Austria
On Friday, 6,464 new SARS-CoV-2 infections were reported in 24 hours, after yesterday’s record of 7,416 new cases. 1,340 people have died in connection with Covid-19, an increase of 72 deaths. There were 1,082 deaths last Friday, so 258 people died with an infection in a week, down from 128 the week before, that’s a doubling of deaths.
Almost 3,000 people, exactly 2,925 (as of 9:30 am) are hospitalized, 421 of them intensive, the Ministry of the Interior reported this Friday. Last Friday there were 263, which means an increase of 60 percent in this critical area. 83,707 have recovered after being infected with SARS-CoV-2, so currently 53,932 people are actively infected.
