3,614 new infections in a single day

For the first time in Austria, more than 3,000 new cases were reported in 24 hours.

Crown numbers in Austria continue to increase rapidly. 3,614 new infections were reported in Austria in 24 hours, most of them in Vienna.

So far 78,029 positive results have been obtained in Austria. As of today (October 24, 2020, 9:30 a.m.), 965 people in Austria have died from the consequences of the corona virus and 56,791 have recovered. There are currently 1,177 people in hospital treatment for the coronavirus, 175 of them in intensive care units.

The new infections are divided between the federal states of Austria as follows:

Burgenland: 101

Carinthia: 84

Lower Austria: 715

Upper Austria: 662

Salzburg: 235

Steiermark: 339

Tyrol: 400

Vorarlberg: 108

Vienna: 970

777 new cases of corona infection in Vienna

In Vienna, 777 new coronavirus infections were reported from Friday to Saturday. At the same time, the number of new cases published on Friday “due to a problem with data transmission” had to be corrected from 615 to the previous record of 808, the medical crisis team said in a broadcast. To date there have been a total of 26,494 positive test results in Vienna.

The number of deaths related to the virus is now 309. Three men (80, 73 and 65 years old) have died in the last 24 hours. There are currently 309 people with Covid infection in hospital treatment, 69 of them in a surveillance or intensive care unit.

19,700 people have recovered, 511 more than the previous day. Yesterday Friday 7,479 tests were carried out in Vienna, which means that the federal capital already has 584,976 tests.

101 new infections in Burgenland

The Coronavirus coordination team reported 101 new Covid-19 infections for Burgenland on Saturday. 415 people or 49 more than the previous day were currently infected, 1,147 people (plus 52) recovered. The total number of confirmed cases in the state increased to 1,578.

In Burgenland hospitals, 31 Covid-19 patients were treated in isolation on Saturday, four of them in the intensive care unit. Coordination staff also announced that 1,500 people in the state were under officially ordered quarantine.
