In the last 24 hours, there were 356 new coronavirus infections in Lower Austria. Corona cases have recently increased around Herzogenburg Abbey, which is why the Augustinian Canons are now in quarantine.

The Augustinian canons from Herzogenburg Abbey (St. Pölten-Land district) have been in quarantine since Saturday after Provost Petrus Stockinger tested positive for the corona virus. The 38-year-old rector had shown symptoms of the disease, which until now had been mild, the pen announced on his website. Several crown cases were known in the run-up to the canons.

As a result of the quarantine, all guided tours through the corral have been canceled for the time being. The planned confirmations and religious services in the 14 parishes of the Herzogenburg monastery are also affected, according to the monastery’s website.
