Ranggen – A mountain tour at Roßkogel in Ranggen municipality fatally ended on Friday for a 31-year-old German living in Pettnau. The man had already scaled the mountain in the morning and had called his wife around 11:40 am and told her that the descent would now begin.

When the man was still not home at the agreed time around 2 pm, his wife tried to call him several times. When he was unsuccessful, he first reported to an acquaintance that he went looking for the lost himself. Until dark he was unsuccessful and then made an emergency call.

During an organized search, a team from the mountain rescue team finally found the dead man in a steep ravine below the northern ridge of the Roßkogel around 8:30 p.m. Based on the current status of the investigation, it is possible that he crashed while descending the north ridge. The search involved 14 men from Innsbruck Mountain Rescue, six mountain rescue dog trainers, six workers from Flaurling Mountain Rescue, two Alpine policemen and a local police officer from the Kematen office.
