Insolvency proceedings were initiated at two companies in the Klausner group of companies based in Oberndorf. Both companies were active in the international timber trade. Around thirty employees are affected.
Bankruptcy proceedings were opened at the Innsbruck Regional Court on Tuesday through Klausner Trading International GmbH based in Oberndof and Klausner North America Beteiligungs GmbH based in St. Johann.
According to KSV 1870, Klausner Trading International GmbH sells all sawn and sawn timber production from all Klausner companies worldwide. The last manufacturing plant in Thuringia was sold to a Canadian lumber company in 2017. According to KSV 1870, the debtor also provided services for several Klausner companies in the United States and Germany.
Failed acquisition
According to the bankruptcy petition, US companies have not paid significant amounts of services for months. Apparently there were talks with investors who should have taken control of the American companies, but this acquisition had failed.
There is no serious information on liabilities.
The credit protection association says that “reliable information on the amount of liabilities cannot currently be provided. At Klausner North America Beteiligungs GmbH and Klausner Trading International GmbH, a distinction should be made about which liabilities are outstanding between companies within the group and which liabilities affect “external” creditors. The examination statutes will show which consolidated insolvency claims have been filed.
About 30 employees are affected by bankruptcies.
