As in the previous year, the 2020 Red Bulls Salute International Ice Hockey Invitational Tournament will again take place in Kitzbühel, Austria.
On September 19 and 20 this year, the two host teams Red Bull Salzburg and Red Bull Munich will battle for the title in one of the world’s most famous sporting regions against the Austrian record champion EC-KAC from Klagenfurt and the two-time Austrian champion spusu Vienna Capitals.
Advance sales for a limited number of seat tickets begin September 7. All games at the Sportpark Kitzbühel are streamed live and exclusively on MagentaSport.
Three-time German champions Red Bull Munich will start the race as defending champions. In August last year, Munich won the title for the second time after 2017 with victories against Helsinki IFK (2: 1) and Malmö Redhawks (7: 4).
“Of course we want to win the tournament for the third time and at the same time defend our title from last year. We also have the opportunity to compete with the best teams a good two weeks before the start of the Champions League. That’s great, ”says Munich captain Patrick Hager.
The four participating clubs have already won 44 national championship titles. The tournament begins on September 19 at 5:00 pm with the duel between Klagenfurt and Salzburg.
The second semifinal takes place the same day at 8:30 p.m. This is where the two clubs in Vienna and Munich are located. The winners of the two semi-finals will meet in the final on September 20 at 6:00 p.m., before the game for third place begins at 2:00 p.m.
Between 2005 and 2009, Red Bulls Salute ran as an international invitational tournament (with LA Kings, SKA St. Petersburg and CSKA Moscow, among others), and between 2010 and 2013 it was the final tournament of the European Trophy. In 2014 it gave way to the newly founded Champions League (CHL), and in 2017 the tournament continued after a four-year hiatus.
From 7 September (10:00 am) on the homepage of the EC “Die Adler” Stadtwerke Kitzbühel (www.dieadler.at) tickets for the games will be available in the Kitzbühel Sports Park. Due to the corona pandemic, only a limited number of tickets are sold for all four games, no stand-up or combo tickets are offered. A maximum of eight tickets are available per order, each ticket costs 15 euros.
