In the last 24 hours, 272 people tested positive for Covid-19. On Sunday there were 181 new infections, the day before including 395 cases. 3,479 people in Austria are currently infected with SARS-CoV-2, the Interior Ministry reported on Monday.
Since the outbreak of the pandemic, 27,438 positive results have been recorded in Austria. As of Monday (9.30 am), 733 people with or due to the consequences of Covid-19 have died. 23,226 have recovered from the infection. 154 people are currently in hospital treatment due to SARS-CoV-2, 31 of them are in the intensive care unit.
Positive trend in Upper Austria
Most of the new infections were again recorded in Vienna with 167 cases, followed by Lower Austria with 32 and Upper Austria and Tyrol with 22 cases each. Twelve cases were recorded in Styria, ten in Salzburg, three in Burgenland and two in Krnten and Vorarlberg.
In Upper Austria, both the number of active cases and the number of new infections have decreased compared to the previous week. At 11 am, the country reported 392 people currently ill. 23 of the 19 Upper Austrian Covid patients were in hospital, three of them in intensive care units. 1,613 people were in quarantine.
Of the 22 new infections Monday, six were from returning travelers, who in turn triggered a follow-up case in the state. As a result, a total of 721 infections can be traced back to returning travelers since June 24, as announced by the crisis team.
