No one seems immune from the accident, not even those who continue to save lives: On Thursday, a 27-year-old mountain rescue candidate fell 500 meters from the Gran Priel. He could only recover dead.
As part of a winter course, a training group climbed the Großer Priel (2,515 meters) on Thursday, including the young mountain rescuer from Vorderstoder (Kirchdorf district). Upon reaching the top, a snowplow likely broke, the 27-year-old several hundred meters in the direction of Goldkaar ripped into the depths, making the state control center of Upper Austria. Dog found buried victims
The other participants in the course immediately began the rescue operation. They were supported by another 50 mountain rescuers from the Phyrn-Priel region, as well as rescue, police and military helicopters.
Since the 27-year-old’s avalanche search device was no longer working, the search turned out to be difficult. Finally, a mountain rescue dog was able to locate one of the man’s clothes. A few meters later, they found the 27-year-old, sadly dead.
