The FIS International Ski Federation will decide on Saturday the venue for the 2025 Alpine Ski World Championship. Saalbach-Hinterglemm (Pinzgau) will be the favorite.
Two years ago, Pinzgauer had to admit defeat to Courchevel when they won the 2023 World Cup. But now they are in the best starting position, with their concept of all World Cup competitions at the Zwölferkogel in Hinterglemm. Even the Swiss competition attributes the 2025 World Cup to the Glemmtalern even before the vote. Crans Montana entered the application with clear intentions and concepts, but was not expecting an award. The organizing team in Garmisch-Partenkirchen sees it in a similar light, where they have not yet given up and hired Maria Höfl-Riesch as their ambassador, but are pushing the role of favorites Saalbach Hinterglemm.

ORF Sport + will report live on Saturday from 5.15 pm on the allocation of the 2025 World Ski Championships.
“I hope it turns out positive”
For the president of the state ski association, Bartl Gensbichler, who runs a ski school himself in Hinterglemm, the status of favorite at the World Championships is not a burden, but an incentive: “Being a favorite is always difficult. You never know what will happen. But I already feel a lot of positive things. We are used to putting up with such pressure and of course we hope it turns out positive.
The vote of the 16 members of the FIS board, including ÖSV President Peter Schröcksnadel, takes place at the end of the afternoon via video conference. If there is a deadlock, the vote of the president of the FIS, Gianfranco Kasper, decides. The Salzburg organizing team will follow the presentations and the decision scheduled for 5.30pm together in Hinterglemm.
