CNN Analysis: These States Matter!
Florida, Trump’s new home state: Here the president had 113,000 more votes than Clinton last time. Very little with 21.5 million residents and about 15 million eligible voters! Hot spots: more seniors have moved from the liberal north, more Latinos. BUT: Trump’s grassroots are motivated to their fingertips here.
Georgia: Trump won easily in 2016. But Georgia relies heavily on the African-American vote. Can Kamala Harris change her mind?
Arizona: Lots of Latino immigrants in the last four years!
Iowa: In 2016, Trump clearly won here too, especially among white men and women. But Biden is much, much more popular here than the hated Hillary Clinton. Y: Obama won Iowa in both 2008 and 2012.
North Carolina: A MUST for Trump. He won here with ease in 2016. BUT: At that time Hillary couldn’t convince African-Americans (unlike Obama 2008/2012) at all. This time Kamala Harris is on the ticket.
Ohio: NO Republican has won the White House without winning Ohio. Trump destroyed Clinton here. Now the question arises: can Biden bring back the white voters that Clinton rejected? And will Kamala Harris be able to mobilize African Americans who said in 2016: Neither of you is my candidate?
