2,922 people were in the hospital on Tuesday, 51 more than on Monday. However, compared to last Tuesday, there were 602 fewer patients in the hospital. There were also more sick people in intensive care units on Tuesday, a total of 487, nine more than on Monday. In one week, the number of intensive care patients dropped by 86 (minus 15 percent).
Since the beginning of the pandemic, 342,226 people have tested positive in Austria. 309,595 survived a Sars-CoV-2 infection. In the last 24 hours, 29,463 arrived in Austria, of which 6.3 percent were positive. On average, 28,227 tests were entered into the Epidemiological Reporting System (EMS) every day for the past seven days. 7.4 percent of these were positive.
Most of the new infections since Monday were reported in Vienna with 358, in Styria there were 308 and in Upper Austria 294. Tyrol reported 231 new cases, Lower Austria 220 and Carinthia 145. There were significantly fewer than 100 new infections, 62 in Vorarlberg and 30 in Burgenland. .
