The corona pandemic is a severe blow to many of these companies. The economic consequences of the crisis affected SMEs more than large companies, as recently discovered by a study by management consultancy Bezan & Ortner. The often proven formulation that a crisis is also an opportunity is not an empty phrase for many SMEs.

60 percent of the companies surveyed by Bezan & Ortner now rely on strategic sales realignment. But digitization also plays an important role. About 60 percent of those surveyed also said they digitized processes in their own company.

Government aid packages are even more important in helping these companies overcome the crisis. It not only ensures your existence, but also that of your employees. In fact, the 345,000 SMEs in this country employed almost two million people before Corona. And they trained around 52,900 apprentices.

Almost a quarter of these companies will divest in the next five years. However, it is worrying that 16,700 of these companies still have no successor. The private television network Servus TV and KURIER support the entrepreneurs in their search for successors.

In a series of five chapters, Servus TV will present the companies in a separate program (“Los Sucesores”, always on Thursdays at 9:10 p.m.). The KURIER portrays the companies once a week in advance. We will start with tomorrow’s problem.

After all, it is not just about numbers, but also about responsibility towards society. Especially about the future of tens of thousands of jobs.
