From November 25 to December 10, 2020, six well-known buildings in Hohenems will glow orange: “Orange the World” is a campaign launched by UN Women, the United Nations women’s organization.

It is directed against violence against women, which unfortunately continues to be one of the most widespread human rights violations. The campaign began on November 25, “International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women” and ends on December 10, 2020, “International Human Rights Day”.

During this time, buildings or monuments around the world glow orange each year. In recent years they have been, for example, the Scala in Milan, Niagara Falls, the pyramids of Giza or the statue of Christ in Brazil. In Austria, the Burgtheater in Vienna, the clock tower in Graz, the Golden Roof in Innsbruck, the Fortress in Hohensalzburg, but also the Hohenems Palace and much more have been illuminated. In 2020 Hohenems will once again be represented with various buildings in “Orange the World” and will make the Renaissance palace, the parish churches of St. Karl and St. Konrad, the Jewish Museum, the Salomon Sulzer Hall and the ruins of the castle Alt- Ems glow orange.
