The number of deaths is above the average of the last seven days. The number of new reported cases also remains high.
Across Austria, 126 more deaths of corona-infected people were reported within 24 hours on Friday morning. So far, 4,289 people have died from the virus. The number of new infections was 2,893 cases, the Interior and Health Ministry said. With 3,838 people recovering at the same time, the number of actively ill people dropped by 1,071 to 38,789. 3,651 people were treated in hospitals on Friday, 572 of them in intensive care units.
There was a decrease of 129 people in the hospital, including a decrease of 13 intensive care patients. In the past seven days, however, the number of patients in hospitals has only decreased by a total of 329 people. At the same time, 638 people infected with corona died, or 91.1 deaths per day.
Great value for new infections
The 2,893 new infections were also high compared to the last seven days, where the average was lower with 2,762 positive tests per day. However, the incidence of seven days per 100,000 inhabitants in Austria decreased slightly to a value of 217.2 (previous day 227.6).
118 of the new infections affected Burgenland, 249 Carinthia and 360 Lower Austria. The highest value was recorded in Upper Austria with 633 positive tests, in Salzburg it was 169, in Styria 470, in Tirol 216, in Vorarlberg 152 and in Vienna 526 new cases.
So far 316,581 people in Austria have tested positive, of which 273,503 are considered to have recovered. There were 3,355,391 tests in total, 25,394 in the last 24 hours, where 11.4 percent of the results were positive.
