A week and a half ago, the Dornbirn Autumn Fair closed its doors after five days, now the balance has been drawn.

Ten days ago, the 72nd Dornbirn Fall Fair closed its doors after five days; After the incubation period expired, the balance was drawn up on Wednesday. According to the CEO of the trade fair, Sabine Tichy-Treimel, there is no case of a crown dating back to the fall fair. “The health and safety of our visitors, exhibitors and employees was our highest priority at all times. We are even more pleased that our efforts in this regard have paid off and that there has not been a single case of Covid in connection with the fall fair.

Number of visitors below expectations

A total of 11,929 visitors attended this year’s fall fair. “Compared to previous years, the number of visitors is, of course, lower than expected. However, we can understand that for many people attending an important event was and currently is not a problem, ”said Tichy-Treimel. The 10,000 visitors to the Klagenfurt autumn fair show that these figures are due to current circumstances. The cancellation of the Dornbirn Fall Fair was at no time an option for the organizers, since according to Federal Ordinance 266 of June 15, trade and public fairs were again allowed, so that the Fall Fair it could be planned throughout Austria. The requirement was to reopen the exhibition doors on September 1, 2020. “It was very clear to us and all the other trade show organizers that we would celebrate this fall, provided that all security requirements can be met. The Dornbirn Autumn Fair was the first public fair in Austria. This is our job.

They also wanted to send a clear signal to the economy, the events industry and regional value added. As the economic engine and central market of the country, the fair also has a responsibility for the region, we do not want to avoid this.

Help for exhibitors

The missing visitors would also have greatly affected the exhibitors. However, the fair was a good opportunity, especially for small distributors, to generate income again. “The quality of the visitors was good. There are exhibitors satisfied with the result. Due to the lack of a large crowd, so-called walk-ins have disappeared. Of course, many exhibitors felt this in terms of sales, ”says Tichy-Treimel. Immediately after the autumn fair, Messe Dornbirn made the exhibitors an offer for a reduction in the booth rental. For the cancellation of the SCHAU! In the spring of this year, the booth rentals were refunded 100%, despite the costs already incurred by Messe Dornbirn.

All 2020 fairs canceled

The new traffic light regulation would again affect the organizers of the fair, so Messe Dornbirn has to cancel all other fairs by 2020. “An orange traffic light means a maximum of 250 people for trade and public fairs and no business of catering. This means that it is not possible for us to implement the planned formats despite the safety and hygiene concept ”, explains Tichy-Treimel. As a result, the fair has registered short-time jobs.

“Our job as a trade fair organizer now is to find solutions throughout Austria in the coming weeks and months. Our primary goal is to create predictability and security for the entire industry and for everyone involved. ”There will be discussions about the 2021 trade show in the coming weeks.
