Australian pub bans local emus after they defecate in building, steal toast

There is nothing worse than going to a pub for a drink and then having a loud emu ruining everyone’s night.

A couple of emus have reportedly been banned from the only pub in a small Australian town after causing multiple riots within the business. The animals were apparently caught leaving droppings on the floor and stealing toast from customers.

According to locals, emus are large animals and are just over 6 1/2 feet tall when standing upright.

Hotel co-owner Gerry Gimblett told The Guardian: “They have been stealing things from guests, especially their food. They would stick their heads in and take toast out of the toaster. But the main reason we have banned them is their droppings. They are huge, very big and very smelly, and they created big spots. ”

To keep the animals away, Gimblett was reported to have installed a piece of rope at the hotel entrances to act as a barrier to keep the emus out of the building. Reportedly, Kevin and Carol have not yet learned to duck under the rope, the Associated Press reports.
