A 55-year-old man has been killed by a shark in Western Australia, the eighth death in the country this year.
At 8.40am local time on Sunday, police were called to Cable Beach, a popular tourist destination on the Indian Ocean coast of Australia.
The man was pulled from the water with serious injuries and was treated by police before paramedics arrived. He died on the spot, police said.
A surprise attack on the great barrier of AU Australia leaves the man in economic condition.
Local media reports said the man had a bite on his upper thigh and arm.
It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.
Park rangers immediately closed the beach and assigned a fishing vessel to patrol the area.
The death toll from shark attacks this year is eight, the highest in Australia since 1929, when nine people were killed, according to the Associated Press.
