Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, who is allegedly running to become the presumptive candidate for Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, said Monday that she tested positive for the coronavirus.

“COVID-19 has literally come home,” Bottoms said in a tweet. “I have had no symptoms and have tested positive.”

Bottoms, 50, has gained national attention in recent weeks for his handling of the coronavirus pandemic and the national protest movement against police brutality and racism, both of which have had a major impact in Atlanta.

Neither Atlanta’s mayor’s office nor Biden’s campaign immediately responded to CNBC’s requests for comment on Bottoms’ tweet.

Bottoms has openly criticized Georgia Republican Governor Brian Kemp, whom he accused of rushing the process of lifting the strict social distancing measures in place to try to stem the spread of the coronavirus.
