DENVER – Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman left Wednesday night’s game against the Colorado Rockies with a hamstring injury, the team said.
He is day to day.
Bregman doubled to the right field to lead the fourth inning and began favoring his right leg before taking the first base. He limped to the second base and was immediately removed from the game. Abraham Toro came in to run for Bregman.
“I felt it when I ran the line to first base, just about when I was going to make the turn to second place, ” Bregman said. Disappointed. I want to be there every day, play with my boys. I started to feel pretty damn good. Now just think about it day in and day out and see how it feels [Thursday].
“I’ll watch it, day after day and see what happens. Who knows, maybe I’ll play here pretty soon.”
Bregman, a two-time All-Star, hits .267 with four home games this season. He struck out Wednesday in his first at-bat against the Rockies.
