At Collider we are pleased to offer you an exclusive preview of one of the most anticipated video games of the year: Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. You can listen to the song “The Sceptred Isle” by the composer Sarah SchachnerThe score for the game, which will be released on November 17 by Ubisoft.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla It takes place in 873 CE and tells an alternative historical angle of the Viking invasion of Great Britain. The main character is Elvor, a Viking raider who grew up in tales of battle and glory.

Schachner is no stranger to the franchise he has composed for Assassin’s Creed Originsbut she says Valhalla provided a unique opportunity:

“My score for Valhalla It portrays the different cultures of the Vikings and Anglo-Saxons, but also combines the two together, reflecting the evolution of the Vikings as they invade and conquer, then integrate into Anglo-Scandinavian society and even convert to Christianity. In ‘The Sceptered Isle’ I wanted to mix both cultures to foreshadow that history. The lyrics are from an ancient Nordic runic stone inscription sung over an anglicized religious harmony. “

“The Sceptred Isle” Appears on Seven-Track EP Out of the north, which is made up of tracks taken from Assassin’s Creed Valhalla soundtrack and also features Jesper Kyd and Einar Selvik. The EP will be released digitally by Lakeshore Records on July 17, but you can preview this star track below. As you will hear, “The Sceptred Isle” is grim and angelic, and I can’t wait to hear the full score once the game is released.
