34 min: To be fair to Van Dijk, he has a lot of moral credit in the bank. Also Fabinho, but now he gives the ball at a low price in the center of the field, allowing Pepe to dribble with great purpose on the field. He was finally chased, but Jurgen Klopp will not be happy with this at all. Liverpool were in full control, but they have carelessly let Arsenal find their feet in this match.
20:49
OBJECTIVE! Arsenal 1-1 Liverpool (Lacazette 32)
Van Dijk has his arm stretched out, the ball at his feet on the edge of his own box. It’s a light intervention from Nelson, never a foul, but the defender wants one because he launches a gruesome step back directly to Lacazette, who rounds Alisson to the right and drops the empty net! What an absurd goal to give away. VAR takes a look at Van Dijk’s complaint, but there is no way to get it reversed.
20:47
31 min: A little more possession of Arsenal in the middle of Liverpool. Torreira finds Lacazette at the lower right, but the flag is offside. It doesn’t matter, though, because …
20:46
30 minutes: Cedric crosses from the right, forcing Alexander-Arnold out of the game near the corner flag. A rare possession for Arsenal in the last third of Liverpool. They buy possession, but so does Mane, and Xhaka returns the ball down the inside right channel. Nelson gets to the end and is unlucky when he bounces off Robertson, returns to him and goes out for a goal kick. Best of hosts.
20:44
28 min: Oxlade-Chamberlain shoots from afar this time. Xhaka, slipping, crashes just in time. Salah knocks down a looped ball with ease and prepares to shoot, inside the box, but the flag is raised correctly for offside; he was gone before Oxlade-Chamberlain took aim.
20:42
26 min: Oxlade-Chamberlain thinks of shooting from a distance, but slides a pass to the right towards Alexander-Arnold, who snuggles up with the outside of his boot towards Salah in the box. Any contact would surely deflect the ball past Martinez, but Salah cannot extend a leg. Arsenal breathes again.
20:39
25 min: And that, ladies and gentlemen, it is time to drink isotonic drinks.

20:39
23 min: Liverpool launches another attack, Mane attempts a diagonal curler from the left that is blocked. They win a corner on the right; Starved for goals, Van Dijk heads directly to Martinez. Then they win another on the left. That is not an event. But Liverpool will be more than happy at the moment. They are practically in full control.
20:37
21 min: Arsenal almost recovered immediately, Nelson runs after a long pass on the right. It could be offside, it might not be. We will never know conclusively, because Nelson reaches the area but cannot decide between crossing and shooting, and neither does he.
20:36
OBJECTIVE! Arsenal 0-1 Liverpool (Mane 20)
Mane nearly closed Martinez’s free kick. Not entirely, but the ball returns directly to Arsenal, Firmino and Robertson are easily combined on the left. Robertson slides a single ball into the goal’s face, and Mane crashes out of the box. Too easy, however you look at it.

20:33
18 min: Van Dijk, in his most familiar role as a quarterback, sprays a nice pass from the left that almost frees Wijnaldum. Not quite. Arsenal are still struggling to prevail in this game, although Martinez has yet to have a serious save.
20:32
16 min: Torreira is lucky not to enter the book, having shamelessly handled the ball, then kicked it in a pike attack after being penalized for it. It looks like he thought the game was going to stop for something else and got confused, so the referee has probably let him go. For the resulting free kick, Lacazette intercepts and commits an awkward foul on Van Dijk, who appears to be on some sort of goal-seeking game tonight, if the time he has spent in the Arsenal box is enough.
20:29
14 min: Everything is Liverpool by the minute, and the game is played almost entirely in the middle of Arsenal. The hosts are struggling to get out, they find it difficult to chain more than a couple of passes together. So much for playing Liverpool at their own game, then.
20:28
12 min: Holding noises on Mane’s back. Free kick just to the left of the center 25 yards. Alexander-Arnold forms to flip it in the upper left corner, but for fools. Robertson takes it, floating harmlessly in Martinez’s arms. But then Arsenal almost paid dearly for playing from behind. The ball has returned to hit Martínez, whose clearance is charged by Firmino. Cut out the base of the left post and pull it out for a goal kick. So close to an absurd opening goal.
20:25
10 minutes: Now it’s Liverpool’s turn to show his own corner routine, Firmino has won one on the right. Alexander-Arnold elaborately plays it up and down the flank and swings on the field. Arsenal half cleared. Van Dijk tries to catch and shoot from the edge of the box, but cannot separate his feet and the danger is over.
20:24
8 min: Arsenal press Liverpool hard, playing with opponents at their own game. Gómez, under pressure, clears Fabinho and goes out to shoot, near his own box. Nothing comes of it, but from Arsenal’s point of view it is an encouraging sign. Arteta’s methods sink slowly.
20:21
6 min: Some fireworks break, crackle, and explode off the ground. Some London-based Liverpool fans in celebration mode, no doubt. In between the punches, Saka wins the first corner of the game from the left. The set piece is all the way to Cedric, on the right, but he freezes a bit with the ball at his feet in the Liverpool area, and can’t find a teammate with his cross in panic. However, a good move on the training ground.
20:18
3 min: Liverpool advanced, Robertson ran to the left and snuggled into the box toward Salah. Nelson manages to intercept just in time and clear, but for a second Arsenal seemed a little rough in the back.
20:17
2 minutes: A smooth start as both teams take turns having an early touch. Long time for another ten goal thriller to unfold yet.
20:15
Liverpool gets the ball rolling … but only after everyone has knelt down. Black lives matter.

The teams are out! Arsenal, with its famous red shirts with white sleeves, forms an honor guard for the new Liverpool champions, who wear the third black color with aqua trim. We’ll be out in a minute!

Mikel Arteta’s turn. “We have made some changes. Players who are in the initial XI deserve to play. We’ve played a lot of minutes, so we need everyone. It is about who is in the best condition to start the game today, who is in the best condition to give something from the bench. And it’s the balance between players who haven’t been given much playing time and really deserve to start. They always keep pushing for training and demand, so today is an opportunity. “

Jurgen Klopp speaks. “We have this game against a really strong team. They are especially good at counterattack. It will be intense. Honestly, I was really happy against Burnley, for 70 to 75 minutes we were outstanding. We should have scored more, but that’s the nature of football that makes the game so exciting. Burnley was ready and deserved the point in the end. So we don’t change much, let’s go again, we’ll try again. “

Arsenal make five changes to the named XI before the 2-1 loss at Tottenham on Sunday. Héctor Bellerin, Shkodran Mustafi, Saed Kolasinac, Dani Ceballos and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are on the bench, giving way to Rob Holding, Cedric Soares, Lucas Torreira, Reiss Nelson and Bukayo Saka. The FA Cup semi-final this weekend against Manchester City may be very present there.
Liverpool made two changes to the team sent to tie with Burnley on Saturday. Young Neco Williams and Curtis Jones throw themselves onto the bench, step aside for the not-especially-great Trent Alexander-Arnold and, returning to their former spot, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Preamble
It’s fair to say that these two clubs know how to put on a show. Since the pair drew 0-0 at the Emirates in August 2015, they have met nine times, and here are the bottom lines: 3-3, 4-3, 3-1, 4-0, 3-3, 1 – 1, 5-1, 3-1, 5-5. And then a scream arises from the millions of neutrals without any masks in this particular game: “More please!”
Arsenal fans can object. They have played their part in all of those games, but have failed to win any of them. His last victory against today’s opponents came in April 2015, when a sensational eight-minute, three-goal blitz in the first half sent a Liverpool team crumbling. Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sánchez were the heroes on Arsene Wenger’s side that day; Brendan Rodgers was struggling to get a song out of Alberto Moreno, Joe Allen, and Lazar Markovic. Times change, huh.
Jurgen Klopp’s chosen champions are the favorites to win tonight. They have won their previous four games in London this season, and will be desperate to complete the set as they need to win the remaining three games to beat Manchester City’s 100-point all-time record. But there is despair, and there is despair, and how Arsenal needs a victory if they want to finish above North London rivals Tottenham, and perhaps still secure some European football next season. A solid finish under new boss Mikel Arteta, which includes a declarative victory over England’s new champions, would give them a big heart as they enter 2020-21.
So this showdown between Arsenal and Liverpool might not have the super high stakes, the winner takes it all, the bets now from 1989, Alan Smith, Michael Thomas, all of that. But there is still a lot to play for. And it’s fair to say that these two clubs know how to put on a show. More, please! Its on!
Kick off: 8.15 pm BST.
