Arguing against the state for DC, Congress says it doesn’t have a car dealership (it does).

The Republican House of Representatives, which has been in Congress since 2015, has announced that it will run for the post of Secretary of State. He had the backing of former President Donald Trump.

Hayes then argued that the Columbia District should not be a state, in part because it does not have a car dealership. Next, he apologized after being told DC had a car dealership – although he explained that he still didn’t know where to find it.

Hayes argued during the House Committee of Oversight and Reform hearing that the bill would make the District of Columbia the 51st state. The district has a population of about 700,000 but does not have congressional voting members – only a representative of the House of Representatives.

Umair, warning that DC receives some special funding from the federal government, said the country’s founders wanted to avoid making the district “first among the states”. He continued: “DC will be the only state, the only state, without an airport, without a car dealership, without a capital city, without a landfill …”

Unless DC has a car dealership, a Google search or a visit to the website of the DC Department of Motor Vehicles – or maybe some comfortable driving around town – would show up.

Democratic Rip of Virginia. Gerald Connolly, condemning the “absurdity” of arguments against the state, later informed the committee that DC has a car dealership. When it came time for Hayes to speak again, he said, “If DC has a car dealership, I apologize for being wrong – I don’t know where it is.”

That dealership is plural, not a single dealership. But anyway, Hice appeared underdated by his mistake. He reiterated his earlier remaining list, warning that DC would become the capital city, state without airports or landfills.

For the record: DC is less than an hour’s drive from three major airports, one of which is connected to the DC-serving subway system and one of which is expected to be connected to the subway system next year.

We should ignore that car dealerships and airports did not exist when the constitution was written.
