Are you still missing your first stimulus check?

When the Cares Act made the first incentive check, it relied on your 2018 or 2019 tax return to qualify you. Many Americans are not required to file a tax return, but they qualify for an incentive check – so the IRS created the Non-Filers tool so these Americans can tell the IRS where to send their checks.

As a refresher, the Cares Act made a check for $ 1,200 for some filers earning less than $ 75,000. Community filers earning less than $ 150,000 received $ 2,400. Those with addiction, age 16 and younger, received an additional $ 500 for each addict.

As it turned out, as is the case with any fast release software, the tool had some issues. Just last week, the IRS issued custody checks to Americans with Dependence who used the IRS Non-Filers: Enter filing information entry tool to enter your information before May 17th. The tool, for submissions before May 17, could not add the $ 500 per depending on those checks.

The IRS has identified another group that may be missing checks.

Recipients of federal benefits with qualifying children

If you:

  • Are a Federal Beneficiary (Social Security Retirement, Survival or Restriction Benefit, Supplementary Income Benefit, Traditional Retirement Benefit, and Pension and Retirement Benefit Benefit),
  • Have qualified children,
  • Have not filed a tax return for 2018 or 2019, and
  • Do not plan on filing a tax return for 2018 or 2019

If you have used the tool since May 5th, they already have your information and you do not need to re-enter it. The IRS will make the payment automatically.

If you have not yet, tomorrow is your chance to do just that.

Beginning Aug. 15, the IRS requires that you use the IRS Non-Filers tool to enter your information so that you can receive the correct amount for your economic impact payment. You have until September 30 to enter this information.

They expect the checks to be issued by mid-October.

If you have not filed a tax return

The IRS reiterates that if you have not filed a tax return and never used the tool to tell the IRS where to send the check, you must enter your information by October 15th.

If you do not, you will need to get your check next year when you file your taxes and claim the refundable tax credit.

If you have not received your check yet

The IRS reiterates that it continues to work to obtain the right amounts for all eligible Americans.

If you are still waiting for your check, your best chance is to find it through the Get My Payment or contact the IRS by calling 800-919-9835.
