A man in South Carolina was arrested Sunday after he allegedly broke into the home of WWE star Sonya Deville to kidnap her.

Phillip A. Thomas II, 24, who works at an Applebee’s in South Carolina and drove 500 miles to Florida, began planning the abduction eight months ago, according to the Sheriff’s Office, but he had apparently stalked his victim for years. on social media.

When police arrived on the scene, Thomas was still sitting in the house and found him carrying a knife, plastic zip ties, duct tape and mace along with several other items.

He is believed to have told deputies he was planning to take Deville hostage according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Thomas was charged with aggravated stalking, armed burglary of a residence, attempted armed abduction, and criminal misdemeanor. He is currently being held without bail.

“Our deputies are discovering the suspect’s disturbing obsession with this homeowner he has never met but stalked on social media for years,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister.

‘It’s horrible to think of all the ways this incident could have taken place if the home alarm had not gone off and alerted the homeowner of a burglar.’
