Apple terminates Epic Games account

The battle between Apple and “Fortnight” creator Epic Games has now escalated by closing the mobile developer account for Epic Games.

Apple has already dropped the “Fortnight” from the start after the game was offered a discount on its virtual currency by the game for purchases outside the app, from which Apple gets a 30% cut.

The recent move means that Epic has essentially locked some parts of Apple’s mobile game design interface to maintain some mobile versions of “Fortnight” – this prevents the developer from updating its released games or releasing new ones (hence the Marvel-themed chapter 2 season 4 no launch).

Even iPhone and iPad players will no longer be able to cross-play with people on PCs or consoles. This is shortly after the final update of Epic Games in a patch that adds a ‘Tart Tycoon’ skin to the game – a monochrome character with an Apple moment with a suited moment to the head, first seen in the game’s #FreeFortnite video.

“Fortnight” has also been blocked on the Google Play Store, preventing a new season update, but Epic says its own Epic Games app and Samsung Galaxy Store will let Android players play.

Epic Vs. The Apple Paul Court case will continue for months with full legal proceedings not expected until early next year.
