Apple Pal will buy one of its brick and mortar outlets in Canada through United Parcel Services Inc. and the US FedEx and arrive the next day. In addition to faster delivery, Apple Play apparently told its staff that the practice would reduce costs and increase potential profits.
Bloomberg Says that Apple started testing the Play program after it reopened its stores after the COVID-19 shutdown. It has since expanded the program’s availability, although not all of its locations in the US and Canada. As the publication notes, it can keep practice stores operational even if it is still not open due to the epidemic.
Apple is experimenting with the format of its outlets following the COVID-19 and has recently launched a trial of “Pul Express” in California. With the Express format, staff will serve customers one at a time and quickly hand over their devices if they pre-purchase online. The company is considering converting some retail outlets to support online support or call centers so that they do not have to close again due to the epidemic.
