Apple is reportedly evaluating macOS with Apple Silicon on iPhone

A leaker reports that Apple is working on Apple Silicon prototypes with macOS running on the iPhone, which would allow a user to plug an iPhone into a dock or monitor, and have a complete desktop experience.

Apple has previously denied that its Catalyst project means that Mac and iOS are coming together. However, now that the Mac will run on Apple Silicon, a leaker says the company is prototyping macOS on an iPhone.

“It’s done,” continues the filter, “They are still working on prototypes on the side, and they are using this time to make it even better … but they have 2 options ready (it will go with only 1).

“They are just waiting for other projects to fit in,” says the filter. “He is 95% sure it will come, but not 100%. It depends on many factors.”

When asked if the plan was a dual-boot device, like Boot Camp that allows macOS or Windows on Intel Macs, MauriQHD said, “It’s more of a hybrid, I’d say, but yes, at least, that would be the foundation of everything.” .

There have been attempts to get desktop operating systems on phones before. The most notable effort is Samsung’s DeX, which was intended to make the Galaxy S8 become a machine similar to the desktop Chromebook, rather than displaying the portable version of the operating system on the screen.

Furthermore, a separate separate Project aimed to make the Razer Phone become an Android laptop as well, and it was demonstrated at CES 2018.

Leaker MauriQHD has a very good track record when it comes to Apple, but it has a good one with other tech companies. The Twitter thread continues with more information, although MauriQHD sometimes changes to say that the prototype runs on an iPad instead of an iPhone.

MauriQHD refers to both in the leak and says that the two Apple prototypes follow similar ideas of having a dockable system or getting the phone to run macOS. Previously, it was reported that Apple was looking to make the iPhone an accessory for a MacBook Pro, replacing its trackpad.
